Willie Garson, better known as Stanford Blatch on Sex and the City, just adopted an eight-year-old son. Garson took in his son Nathan in early 2009 after meeting him at an adoption fair. The adoption of Nathan has now been made final, Garson told TV Guide in a recent interview.
Adoption fairs are events held in secret locations in order to allow potential adoptive parents to meet children available for adoption. Garson was interested in adopting a three-year-old boy until he met Nathan at one of the fairs.
At 45, Garson is now a single father of the third grader, and he has promised to allow his son to see his biological mother whenever possible. He has declined to say much about his son's biological mother, stating only that she is unable to take care of him and that he will not prevent visits.
Willie Garson will soon begin filming the second Sex and the City movie and is looking forward to taking Nathan with him to New York during the filming. Garson believes the enormous amount of attention that Sex and the City stars receive in New York will make it a memorable trip for his son. While he has explained about his role on the show, he has been unable to show him more than one episode of Sex and the City because of its adult content.
