Montgomery County Humane Society celebrates Adopt-a-Cat Month

There’s no shortage of adoptable cats and kittens at the Montgomery County Humane Society (MCHS) these days. So, in observance of June as Adopt-a-Cat Month, MCHS is waiving adoption fees for adult cats aged 3 years and older. This means that adopters can add a new feline to the family for just the cost of a microchip—a mere $25.

Cats are clean, quiet companions who can also be playful and a lot of fun. They make good pets for apartment dwellers, and adult cats generally don’t require much supervision, making them ideal pets for working people. Also, there’s nothing quite like petting a soft, purring cat at the end of a busy workday.

The June adoption special applies to cats aged 3 years and older in the shelter and in foster care and runs through the end of the month. Meet a few of the Humane Society’s adoptable cats in the slide show below. To learn more about a specific cat, call 240-773-5960. Have the cat’s name and ID number available when you call. You can also meet these and many other adoptable cats in person at the shelter, located at 14645 Rothgeb Drive in Rockville. The shelter is closed on Wednesdays but open other weekdays from noon to 7:00 p.m. and weekends from noon to 5:00 p.m.

Looking for a mature feline companion?
Consider adopting a “Golden Oldie” like China (pictured at left). The Humane Society has many very adoptable cats aged 7 years and older who are just waiting for someone special to take them home.
