Hi. I'm Foxglove. Come meet me on Saturday.

Do you need a new cat to provide companionship or liven up your home? If so, this could be your lucky weekend. Potential adopters will be able to meet over 100 cats and kittens this Saturday, September 12, at the Montgomery County Humane Society’s Cat Adoption Open House. MCHS has got quite the selection of adoptable felines, from frisky kittens to wise old souls, all looking for a human companion and perhaps a nice lap to warm.

Hi. I'm Forest. I'm purr-fectly adoptable.
Volunteers and staff will be available to tell adopters all about the cats and help them pick out their perfect match. Cats adopted on the day of the open house will receive free micro-chipping (a service that usually costs $25) courtesy of Home Again, a pet recovery and protection service. A free litter box will be given away with every application. In addition, anyone who adopts a “Golden Oldie” (a cat aged 7 years or older) will receive a special discount coupon for a vet visit. County seniors who adopt a Golden Oldie also pay reduced adoption fees and may be eligible for financial assistance for veterinary care for some chronic health conditions.

Hi. I'm Socrates. Need some wisdom from a handsome young cat?
Potential adopters should be prepared with a valid driver’s license, proof of rabies shots for any animals already in the home, their landlord’s name and phone number (if applicable), and a veterinary reference.
The open house is free and will also feature bake and book sales, raffles, and giveaways. The event takes place Saturday, September 12, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the MCHS shelter at 14645 Rothgeb Drive in Rockville.
