This week's featured cats from around the San Francisco Bay Area

Ernie

At The San Francisco SPCA, you’ll find:

Ernie (A05748427), a a super sweet, 7-year old, grey and white gentleman. He’s outgoing and confident and he loves attention. He can sometimes get a little too excited, so if you see him focus on your hands it’s time to give him some quiet time. Ernie REALLY doesn’t like other cats, so he needs to be an only kitty in an adults-only home, or one with older kids.

Meet Ernie and all the other fabulous felines at www.sfspca.org, or visit them in person at Maddie’s Adoption Center, 250 Florida Street; open daily 11 AM-6PM (except Wednesday, 1-6PM). Plenty of free parking available. 415.522.3500.

Kitty

At the Peninsula Humane Society, here are two lovely cats among the many other wonderful felines you’ll find there:

Meet Kitty, a beautiful, elegant, and poised 10-year-old altered female cat with short black hair. She is a real lady who is calm, affectionate, and very sweet. She likes nothing better than curling up in a willing lap. She’s an ideal candidate for the first time pet owner that has a quiet household and is willing to let her be the queen by being the only cat. She'd also be a good choice for an older person who wants a friend to keep them company. She is not one of those "showy" gals that will meow and try grabbing your attention when you walk by so take the time to ask about her and meet her in one of the 'Get Acquainted' rooms.

Coco

Meet sweet and beautiful Coco with 'melt-your-heart' eyes. She is a 4-year-old altered female with an extra soft tabby coat. She is an outgoing, confident cat that is described as a lovebug and is content to rub all over your legs during a visit. She’s vocal too and has lots to say, like how about, "play with me!" She loves to play with balls or pipe cleaners and has even been known to pick pockets (she stole a pipe cleaner, a kleenex, and a bag of treats out of a volunteer's bag). She’s quite the character once she’s out of her kennel. She loves treats and being combed, and has been known to take over a lap or two. She enjoys the company and companionship of people, but is not fond of being picked up, so if there are children in the home they should be in their teens or older. She has been waiting at the shelter for such a long time, but never gives up hope that someone will see what a sweet cat she is, and offer her a home. Please give Coco a chance.

PHS/SPCA is open for adoptions Monday through Friday, 11am to 7pm, and weekends from 11am to 6pm. It is located at 12 Airport Blvd., San Mateo next to Coyote Point Park. Visit www.PHS-SPCA.org or call 650-340-7022.

At the Marin Humane Society, you can spend time at the new Cat Adoption Center visiting with:

Solaris

Solaris, a 1 1/2-year-old, neutered male. Young Solaris was found stray in Novato - goodness knows how or why. What a great cat! He's super friendly, tolerant of all kinds of handling (his new vet will LOVE him!) and confident to boot. His beautiful coat was a bit dry, but this should be easily corrected with a healthy diet and regular grooming, which he seems to enjoy. If you're looking for the cat companion of your dreams, look no further. He's right here in front of you. Ask to meet your match today. Now then, wasn't that tons easier than Match.com? Solaris will fit into almost any household

Kentucky

Kentucky a 4-year old neutered male. He is one cool kitty! This big confident cat will enjoy living with children

The Marin Humane Society is located at 171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd, Novato. The Adoption Center is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Visit www.marinhumanesociety.org or call 415-883-4621 for more information.

Love the pictures! My fingers are crossed for Solaris, Kitty, and Kentucky - black cats (as well as black dogs) often have more trouble with getting adopted than tigers Coco or tuxedo cats like Ernie. Some say it's based on superstitions, others say it's because their eyes are harder to see. But their love is as boundless as any other cutie in the room.
