Vets in Chicago

One of the most important decisions you make in your cats’ life is choosing their vet. It needs to be easily accessible, affordable and most importantly, someone you’re comfortable with.

Chicago is fill with hundreds of qualified vets in every neighborhood, many of which specialize in cats.

I am not a vet care expert by any means, but I can understand that it’s hard to sort through all of your options. I can’t tell you exactly who to go to, or even what to look for, but I can tell you how to begin your search.

A vet close by is a must for anyone like me who doesn’t have a car. While public transit is an option, in an emergency you want to get your kitty to the vet a.s.a.p., and a cab ride to a far-away hospital just adds to the cost of what usually amounts to an expensive outing.

A great place for vet recommendations is the shelter where you got your cat. They have great staffs that do the legwork for you.

Or talk to your friends in your area with pets, you’ll get the best advice from people you trust. If you’re like me and most of your friends are scattered throughout the city and suburbs, with or pets, they might not be very helpful, so I go to my old friends, Google Maps and Yelp.

But after reading an article on CNET that calls Yelp’s credibility into question, I’m not sure if I can trust my favorite review site. (The article claimed that people who paid for advertising received more favorable reviews than those that refused to buy advertising, but, hopefully, things like vets are removed from this development.)

But, wherever you go to the vet, just make sure you GO, for the sake of your darling cat.
