"You're in Ireland now!" - assault on The Eucharist

It's being reported in The Irish Times and Rorate Caeli that an unnamed individual grabbed The Eucharist from the ciborium during the Celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Knock, in the process, the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ was thrown onto the ground.

The individual objected to receiving the Eucharist on his tongue, as is the rubric of Latin Mass, as he insisted on receiving Holy Communion in the hand.

Fr Wulfran Lebocq, of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, quietly told the individual to take communion on his tongue, in accordance with the traditional Latin rite.

According to onlookers, the communicant told the priest: "You're in Ireland now".

Peadar Laighléis, President of the Latin Mass Society of Ireland stated that "he grabbed a host from the ciborium which was thrown on the floor."

Laighléis also stated, "My understanding is that he is a laicised priest."

Both sources are also reporting that the individual had to be forcibly restrained and escorted to the sacristy in order to keep him from "causing another scene in the church".

The individual reportedly stated that "he intends to protest to Archbishop Neary about the way he was treated".

Neary, the Archbishop of Tuam, said through a spokesman that the incident as "somewhat unfortunate".

The incident was described by the Latin Mass Society of Ireland as "sad" and "disturbing".

Wow... a defrocked priest trying to demand a consecrated Host in a manner that would make it easy to smuggle out of the Church? Sounds like how the satanist in one of Mercedes Lackey's books went about his business.

Here's what I think....this priest or ex-priest or ex-Catholic is just that and deserves not attention just prayers for his converstion...perhaps release from partial possession.
