Pro-abort nuns group chastises bishops for defending marriage

LifeSiteNews.com is reporting that a dissident group of Catholic nuns has released a statement criticizing the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) for reaffirming the definition of marriage as between a man and a woman while failing to address the problem of homosexual teen suicide.

In the statement released Tuesday, the National Coalition of American Nuns (NCAN) said that the bishops have acted like “blinded Pharisees” in reaffirming the Church’s teaching on marriage while having “failed to make a single statement regarding these tragic, preventable deaths.”

“Not one bishop’s voice was raised to condemn a culture where youths are bullied for being who God created them to be and are sometimes pushed by society’s judgments to attempt suicide.”

This statement is not the first time NCAN or any of its members have gone against the hierarchy of the Catholic Church. Last year, it became widely known that Sr. Donna Quinn, a coordinator for NCAN, was serving as a pro-abortion “escort” for the ACU Health Center in Hinsdale, Illinois. After her involvement with the ACU Health Center was revealed, Quinn was rebuked by her superiors in the Sinsinawa Dominicans for violating “her profession as a Dominican religious.”

NCAN also released a voter’s guide during the 2006 elections that encouraged Catholics to vote for politicians who favor abortion and gay “marriage.” The nuns urged voters to “choose legislators who will recognize the right of women to make reproductive decisions and receive medical treatment according to the rights of privacy and conscience.”

The nuns went on to say, “We pledge ourselves to initiate, invite, and support deepening actions on behalf of social justice, particularly as these impact women, racial/ethnic minorities, and gay or lesbian persons.”

Why do you insist on describing this group of heretic nuns as Catholic. They are no longer Catholic. They lost the right to identify themselves as such the moment they separated themselves from Church doctrine. Why don't you precede your description "Catholic nuns" with a descriptive adjective like - - - 'dissident' or 'former' or 'heretical' etc. It is an insult to faithful Catholics to call them 'Catholic'. How about 'Heretic Nuns Without Habits (HNWH), it has a nice sound to it.

I am a oung Catholic, and to tell you the truth, I am disgusted at these radical liberal femminist nuns, their lifestyle and belief system. It is totally against the traditions and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and it's beliefs, and those of the vast majority of Catholic faithful.
Unfortunatly, as a young Catholic barely 30, I never grew up with the "old fashioned ", long habited nuns in white collars and heavy veils. My nuns were all old ladies in layclothes who more often than not were nasty, and were constantly whining about what women can't do in the Church. If I had a dollar for every time in 8th grade I heard one of these elderly, unhappy women complain about the supposed injustice of the Church in not allowing women priests etc., I'd be rich.
Fortunatly, and finally, the Vatican is investigating USA Orders of nuns to see what the very serious problem is with them in their lifestyle, belief system, and manner of conduct. It's 30 years too late.
I know enough about nuns from studies (I was a Highschool teacher for 3 years, and a vocations advisor/promoter at my parish for also 3 years), to know that before Vatican II unleashed it's radical changes on the Church in 1965, nuns areound the world were very traditional, dressed in traditional habits, and performed hundreds of holy works of charity and service for the world. They didn't sit around and gripe about their misfortunes, their lack of opportunities to be a priest, or other supposed insults they suffer in the Church. They wore their habits proudly, not trying to hide in business suits, sweaters, jeans, and t-shirts, drink and smoke cigarettes like today's nuns. They lived in big convents and promoted the traditions and teachings of the Church, not living alone or in pairs in appartments, preaching dissent and how not to be faithful Catholics.
Groups like these nuns in this article are arrogant and obnoxious. They and similar groups have held a clenched fist in the air against the Catholic Church for years, and have shouted to anyone who would listen how unhappy they are, how underappreciated they are, and how unjust the Church is not to have women priests, married priests, and gay rights and marriage.
I hope in the current investigation by the Vatican of these nuns, the final ruling is to suppress/disband these Orders of habitless raical femminist nuns. If they are so unhappy in the Catholic Church, and aggitate so much against it's teachings as in this article, then they should not be members of the Church, or nuns.
Any USA company would probably fire these people.
The Roman Catholic Church should disband these nuns.
What a surprise that would be for them!!
They would never see it coming. They think they're invulnerable.
    I think they're in for a surprise!
