Adopt Hero the cat...or Fritz the feline

Here's Hero--you can adopt this honey!

Thinking of getting a new feline friend during I Love NYC Pets Month? Hundreds of captivating cats are up for adoption this month—and every day-- from rescue groups and shelters in all five boroughs.

For a feline-focused adoption event, head out to Williamsburg, Brooklyn on Sunday, February 7th from 12:30-5:30 pm. Fabulous felines from the Empty Cages Collective (ECC) will be waiting for you at PS9 Pet Supplies at 169 N. 9th Street (between Bedford Ave and Driggs Ave).

Here’s a sneak preview of just two of the perfect pussycats the ECC has available for adoption. Hurry, because these are clearly one-of-a-kind cats (okay, aren’t they all?!)!

Happy and handsome, Fritz can be yours!

Who wouldn’t want a Hero? Described by the ECC as “sweet and friendly,” Hero clearly has the good looks to go with her winning personality. And she’s one healthy girl. She’s also been spayed, treated for parasites, vaccinated, and has even got her microchip. Adopt this cat and you’ll be able to tell all your friends you’ve fallen in love with a Hero just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Fritz is another catch of a cat. Extremely loving and easy on the eyes, this handsome guy has been described as “ funny, happy, and robust.” He doesn’t let his FIV-positive status or diabetes get him down, and you won’t have any problem giving him his twice-daily insulin injections. Fritz has been neutered, treated for parasites, and is up to date on all vaccinations. He’s ready to bring some love and joy into your life. Surely, your heart is on the Fritz by now.

Both Hero and Fritz are cats the ECC pulled from the Animal Care & Control of New York shelters, where they risked being killed due to overcrowding at the facilities. In fact, all ECC cats and kittens come either from the AC&C or are socialized strays rescued from the streets. Clearly, there are jewels to be had.

All prospective adopters will have to complete an application and supply references. Once your application has been processed and you’re approved, the ECC will contact you to schedule a drop-off time for your new kitty.
