You’ll get no shortage of love from Ginger and Mocha. These plus-sized, 10-year old loving kitties each tips the scales at around 23 pounds. They now are in residence at the Marin Humane Society (MHS) and in need of a special home.

MHS describes these two as big cats with hearts to match who sadly lost their home when their former guardian could no longer keep them. Ginger and Mocha need an extra special adopter who will make sure to keep these two on a restricted diet and also monitor Mocha who is in the early stages of kidney failure.

MHS describes Mocha’s problem as a progressive, incurable disease that affects the kidney’s ability to function. With kidney disease or Chronic Renal Failure (CRF), cats can live for many months and sometimes even years without having major problems. There is no way to predict how long it will be before cats begin to show clinical signs of CRF, such as increased water drinking and increased urination. However, a low protein diet and subcutaneous fluids can keep cats in more advanced CRF reasonably comfortable for a period of time.

If Ginger and Mocha have grabbed your heart, The Marin Humane Society at 171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd., Novato now is accepting applications for them. Shelter hours are 10 am to 5 pm (closed on Veterans Day). The adoption fee for Ginger and Mocha is $130.
