Rural shelters like those in Los Banos, about two hours south of San Francisco in Merced County, tragically have lots of surrendered and abandoned cats and few, if any, adopters. Each week, a dedicated shelter rescue coordinator emails Bay Area cat rescue groups with a list ‘urgent’ cats – those scheduled for euthanasia -- with hopes that some lives will be saved. It’s becoming more and more difficult for Bay Area groups to help because they too are inundated with local requests for help.
This week, Maine Coon Adoptions out of the East Bay, a group more than full with its own rescues, pulled out all the stops to save two moms and their babies from Los Banos. Hearts could not be bigger among Elaine Lyford and her fantastic group who were determined these mamas and their kittens would not die.
Now the group could use some help with the vet bill for checkups, testing and providing medical care where needed for the mamas and their kids. Can you help? Any amount is appreciated and enables Maine Coon Adoptions to continue to do great work here in the Bay Area and rescue from areas like Los Banos that desperately need support. You can find out more about the group and make a secure donation at the organization's website.
