If you live in Marin, here’s another way to help
The Marin Humane Society announced it is going to donate a portion of the proceeds from its Paw Prints dog walk – scheduled for this Sunday, May 23 – to provide some assistance to the devastated shelter.
In an official announcement from MHS, Suzanne Golt, executive director said, “We are heartbroken to learn about the loss of destruction caused by the fire. Sunday’s Paw Prints dog walk offers the perfect opportunity for MHS and the Marin community to offer their support for our friends across the Bay.”
Paw Prints will take place from 9 am to Noon in Mill Valley. Pups and their people are invited to stroll along a one-mile course that begins and ends at scenic BayFront Dog Park, located at the end of Sycamore Avenue off Camino Alto. Agility demonstrations as well as vendors with fun stuff for canine companions will be available. The event fee is $25 for each registered dog.

Jacksonville Fire
© 2007 by Carol Notermann
The angels knew quite quickly many cats were heading home.
They raced from Heaven downward, not one would leave alone.
The fire had just started, the cats were filled with fear
And even little puppies, began to shed a tear.
The angels stepped inside the room, St. Francis joined them there.
He raised his hand and calmed them, he said a little prayer.
And then as fireman struggled to try to save each tiny one
The cats and then the puppies were lifted one by one.
St. Francis grabbed the first cat, and kissed her little head
And softly passed her to an angel who placed her in a bed.
And quickly, very quickly they saved each little cat
And even pulled the puppies, and it seemed that that was that.
A few exotic animals were hiding and alone
But through the smoke he found them and sent them each on home.
Then glancing at the firemen, the angels screamed a quick alarm
The roof was giving way, the firemen would be harmed.
Part two of the poem... Jacksonville Fire
The angels waited quietly the firemen were okay,
And turning to the animals they were quickly on their way.
For up by Rainbow Bridge so many children waited there
To hold a little kitty and pet a puppys hair.
And as the fireman stood together wishing more could have been done
Our Lord sent down His blessing to each and every one.
For He knew that they had saved as many as they could
The Lord knew they had tried so hard, and knew they always would.
