All men who work out have an idea how their perfect body would look. The look most men want is that of Adrian Peterson. Adrian Peterson is the extremely talented running back of the Minnesota Vikings. He is one of the most physical and most explosive running backs in the NFL. Some of his muscularity is genetic; the rest is from hours of hard work. His fitness philosophy that led to his physical conditioning is easy and one anyone can do.
For cardio Adrian Peterson likes to run, outside. He says he likes to feel like he is getting somewhere. This is the biggest reason why people don't like running on treadmills or biking on stationary bikes. Adrian Peterson along with several Viking receivers also run what they call “half gashers”. Half gashers are sprints running the 40 yards across the football field, once, twice, or thee times. Then they rest to let their body recover. This is a form of high intensity interval training that leads to great physical conditioning.
Adrian Peterson has a diet that consists of mostly baked fish, chicken, vegetables and Cytosport supplements. He uses muscle milk, and some of their other energy drinks and protein supplements to stay lean and muscular.
The philosophy Adrian Peterson uses for his weight training is based on getting muscular and lean, but not too big. He works with weights 2 to 3 times per week. He does upper body on one day, and lower body on another. What he does different from most is. He does up to 20 exercises for each body part for his top physical condition, but does only one set for many of them, 12 to 15 reps. Adrian Peterson does the workout in a circuit style. The idea is to keep moving by using alternating muscles from one exercise to the next. An example is doing bench press, and then going directly to seated cable rows. This allows the chest muscles to rest while you work the back. Instead of just sitting and resting.
His philosophy for staying in top physical condition is to do cardio, both high intensity and steady. To eat a high protein, low fat diet, and weight train in a circuit format doing high reps and lots of variety. You may not have the genetics or time to look like Adrian, but anyone can look their best by following his training principles.
