This is scary. Seems that there should be a way to stop this. More lawsuits against Reynolds?
OMG! This is sooo scary. How do these big companies get away with this stuff knowing that this only makes these things easier for kids?
Agreed!
please send me information on the new dissolvable tobacco or a study on this that you have.
Thanks,
How about instead of wasting a judge's time with another bull crap lawsuit, you actually be parents and make sure your kids don't use these products. How about actually being a parent instead of having someone else make laws and rules that make it possible for adults to enjoy products like these. Be parents for once. And quit complaining and sueing tobacco companies whenever you feel that something they have done is wrong.
So... if these are smoke free or carcinogen free . . . whats the problem? That they may become addictive? And your point would be? Nicotine delivery is here to stay boys and girls much the same as alcohol, it will never be eliminated, ever.
So, if a product such as this can deliver a substance demanded by the populous much the same as coffee, sugar, etc., etc., is without the carcinogens, what's the problem? The carcinogens derived from smoking seem to be eliminated with such a product and will no doubt eliminate smoking with some people, wouldnt you think?
Would someone inform me just what the realistic harmful effects of nicotine delivery (not smoking) are? Please dont go off on tangents about the gateway theory, please, just some real data on Nicotine ingestion and how it is so dangerous? Educate me.
Are you guys crazy? Nicotine is not a drug like alcohol. It is a physically addicitive drug like heroine! It effects the chemoreceptors in the brain! Look it up!!!
Why is a tobacco company selling a drug? Better yet, why isnt it regulated by the FDA? These products have as much or more deliverable nicotine than a cigarette.
Quit blaming parents for what their children try...children are experimental, the tobacco companies spend billions of dollars marketing every year and much of that is targeting teens.
Wake up people...I dont care what it is, if it is not healthy for our children, it is not good. How about using some of that energy supporting a healthy productive cause!Geez, some people amaze me!!!!!
by the way Mark...that comment was not meant for you!
hopefully I did provide a little education for you though! :-}
you complain about 2nd hand smoke and when an alternative to that appears you complain kids might think its shiny and try it. If you try and stop this take a minute to realize how every little thing you try to control for other people is one less freedom you have.
People can be so stupid sometimes. What is a lawsuit going to do? I hate to break it to you parents, but kids don't use tobacco products because of advertising, honestly teenagers couldn't care less about tobacco company advertising, not to mention the fact that there hasn't been mainstream advertising of tobacco products in nearly 10 years. Teens smoke, because they make the choice to smoke, just like everyone else.
And to Lori. How can you say that Alcohol is not physically addictive? Have you ever seen someone go through withdraw symptoms from alcohol? Withdraw symptoms=Physically Addictive.
A year later... I don't think there is a problem with kids wanting these "mints". As a way to help with quitting the hand to mouth part of a 20 year smoking habit, I found these Orbs to be awful in taste... kind of what one would think sucking an old cigarette butt would taste like.
Tobacco is a carcinogen (nicotine is not), no matter the delivery system - whether you smoke it, chew it or dissolve it in your mouth. Of course, smoking it is the most harmful method, but oral delivery systems (like chew) are also linked with mouth and throat cancers. No matter if it's sunff, snus, tobacco mints, candies, sticks, or dissolveables. The tobacco plant has naturally occuring carcinogens, some are there already when the plant is grown, some are added, and others are released when smoked. So you see, you don't HAVE to smoke it to be at risk for cancer. And nicotine probably not a gateway drug, but it's still addictive, as addictive as cocaine & heroine. And as hard to quit. I was a former smoker and now I councel people trying to quit.
I think kids will beginn to consum Nicotine with these products. Later tehy beginn to smoke to get the Nicotine faster! The tobacco industry is sooo bad !!!
not only is it totally dangerous for the obvious reason that its micro grated tobacco what if micro grated meth was put in it this could potentially be a huge problem
I am a manager of gas station. for about a year . i dont like cig sale to kids and i have past every sting. i am a smoker and wouldnt want my kids to do it.but it is my right to smoke.and i think people go to fare in lawsuits . all we can do is teach our kids and help not let minors get any.next time you think about lawsuits remember we are a free country.and think about the car u drive or the fast food you eat . everythang causes somethang any more.oh ya think about the clean produces you use.next time you clean your bathroom think about the smell and remember that is poison to kids and you . bit of advise get a live and clean your own backyard first.
