Almost anything can become a table center piece. Whether the wedding revolves around a traditional theme or a new trend, the table centers can create a magical touch all of their own.
Naturally using items that will be able to be reused and incorporated into the new household is a great step towards an eco-friendly lifestyle. For example borrowing glass bowls, glasses or glass vases from family and friends to use as centerpiece bases is just one idea that really works out great... or check out the local second hand shops, thrift stores, church bazaars or even the dollar stores. Remember that not all tables have to be the same style as long as they're all glass for instance or depression glass 'a-la-Martha-Stewart-collection' (clear glass being the easiest to match with any color scheme)
Winter Wedding ideas:
~Pine cone laden pine branches or boughs can be spray painted to match the color scheme or gold and silver. Winter wedding table centers are easy to do and cheap. Try sprinkling them with glitter while the paint is still wet for a different look. These really look effective if they’re sprayed in white, with a few tulle-netting strips woven amongst them.
~Hyacinth in small pots wrapped in deco-colored Mylar or tissue paper surrounded by votive candles will not just make an awesome table center, but also add a beautiful scent to the hall or room.
~Place any item you would like to use for a table center on top of a mirror tile draped with strips of tulle netting and it will turn all into small winter wonderland scenes. (These mirror tiles are available at the hardware or lumberyard for not very much money; after the wedding they can be reused anywhere in the new home)
Backyard/Outdoor Reception ideas:
~Large citronella plants in some attractive terracotta pots for the somewhat mosquito-plagued backyard or out door reception.
~Large slow burning citronella pillar candles, again for that outside celebration where bugs might be an issue.
Beach Wedding ideas:
~When a beach wedding is in the plans there can be nothing more playful or casual then colorful sand toys, sand buckets and shovel set up in a wooden tray filled with sand and shells.
~ Fill large glass bowls with water to which a few drops of blue food coloring has been added, pour colored sand or small pebbles into it, strategically arrange a castle, ship, a lighthouse etc in it; topped off with floating candles in the shape of water lilies pads or such. A whole slew nautical or beach scenes can be arranged, none the same. (Aquarium or pet shops that sell fish usually carry tons of these articles)
Elegant Wedding ideas:
~An absolutely simple solution for show-stopping table centers is to place floating candles in glass cylinders. Nothing creates a more beautiful and elegant atmosphere than water and candlelight together. These don’t have to be unique hand-blown glass to look impressive. Department stores sell great looking drinking glasses in very inexpensive variety packs, usually including eight of each of the three different glass sizes, or check out the dollar stores. As long as they look like matching sets of glasses, the same shape but in different sizes. Also all the tables do not have to match as long as they’re glass, rounded or square bottomed smooth or textured, it won’t matter. Short, medium and tall, or several same sized ones grouped together, at certain intervals on the tables will just give that totally elegant touch. When using cylinders, the options are almost unlimited. Water can be clear or tinted with food coloring to match the wedding scheme. You can stop there for simple, or get more creative by adding stuff to the bottom of the glasses; such as interesting rocks, colored marbles or shells. Or place a rose bud with a small amount of foliage into the water, beneath the floating candle, just for added impact.
For a few dollars, with a bit of creativity, everything can be arranged in a unique, green eco-friendly festive way. Feathers, shells, grasses, bare branches, pebbles, driftwood, jars, fishbowls, teacups, wooden trays, mirrors, and so much more can be set up with nostalgia or a minimalist’s flare… The possibilities are as limited as your creativity!
