Canadian Martin Short, actor and comedian, will receive the "Courage Award" from the Women's Cancer Research Fund next week as a tribute to him and his late wife, Nancy Dolman.
Womanscncerresearchfund.org reports that the 14th Annual Unforgettable Night will continue their efforts to recognize people for their dedication to the cause against cancer and will use proceeds of the event to raise needed funds for research.
In August, 2010, Short lost his wife after 30 years of marriage and her 3-year battle against cancer. The Three Amigo's performer has also been deeply affected by the disease after losing his mother to cancer when he was just 17.
Last year, Taylor Swift performed at the event that helped raise over $1.7 for research. Musician's Faith Hill and Tim McGraw also appeared and received the "Courage Award."
Furthermore, actress Christina Applegate was given the "Nat King Cole Award" for her efforts to educate women about the importance of early detection of breast cancer for high risk women.
Honorary chair members of the WCF include actors Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Kate Capshaw and director/filmmaker Stephen Spielberg.
