Actor Sean Penn rushed to the scene of a collapsed building outside the city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti and helped pull a woman and child to safety from the rubble, possibly saving their lives.
TMZ reports Penn and daughter Dylan jumped in their truck and drove for an hour and a half to reach the location and help search for survivors.
Once extricated from the debris, actor and daughter transported the pair to the University of Miami hospital camp in Port-au-Prince.
The woman was treated for leg injuries and the child received treatment for trauma to the head.
After treatment, The Thin Red Line star brought the injured woman and child back to his lodgings, refusing to abandon them with no safe place to stay.
This is not the first time the Oscar winner has played the part of hero in real life.
The veteran actor operates the Jenkins-Penn Haitian Relief Organization whose efforts have helped treat more than 40,000 patients and delivered more than 100,000 pounds of medical supplies in Haiti.
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina he also pitched in to help people trapped by the flooding.
At the time, Penn was harshly accused of pulling a PR stunt for having a photographer in tow as part of an effort to record the devastation in Louisiana.
