Despite many saying that the California Golden Bears (23-10, 13-5 Pac-10) wouldn't get invited to NCAA college basketball's biggest tournament, they were not only invited, but as a higher seed than the Pac-10's automatic bid, Washington (24-9, 11-7 Pac-10).
Cal will be in the most storied bracket for the first and second rounds of the tournament. The Golden Bears drew a No. 8 seed in the South Regional bracket and will face Rick Pitino's Louisville Cards (No. 9) in Jacksonville, Florida on Friday.
Should Cal get past Louisville on Friday, it's certain that they'll play the No. 1 seed, Duke. Mike Krzyzewski, Rick Pitino, and Mike Montgomery are three of the four coaches in the bracket, with the fourth unknown since it's a play-in game between Arkansas Pine Bluff and Winthrop.
