Former Cal star Jerome Randle has reached an agreement to sign with a professional basketball team team in Turkey, according to Turkbasket.com. Randle will sign with Petkim Aliaga, which begins its season in mid-October.
The headline of the article refers to Randle as Super Squirt, and we assume it was an accurate translation.
Last season, Petkim Aliaga's leading scorer was Jack McClinton, a second-round pick out of Miami in the 2009 NBA draft.
Randle was hoping to catch on with an NBA team this season as a free agent, but he received limited playing time during summer-league games for the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards.
Randle reportedly was considering signing with Partizan, a Serbian team, but apparently has decided instead to sign with the team in Turkey.

I heard him last March, after the tournament on the Razor and Mr. T (radio show), say he just "didn't want to play in the D-League." They pumped him up, saying that they thought he could play in the NBA, etc. He basically scoffed at the D-League idea, as if he was so much better than those guys. I thought to myself "he just better HOPE he can actually get a sniff from an NBA team." He's good, but last time I checked, I didn't see too many 5'9-5'10 PGs in the league, getting major minutes---regardless of how well they did in college---if any at all. As it turns out, he'll be playing in....Turkey? Are you kidding me? Sounds like the D-league isn't that bad afterall, huh? But he will make more loot over there. I'm not mad at him, but I think he needed to be a little more level headed and realistic about his prospects.
