Ex-American Idol contestant says show is fixed

Ju'Not Joyner, American Idol contestant from season 8, is claiming that the show is rigged in multiple ways.

In his online chat with Idol Now, he makes some of the following assertions:

  • He was labeled a "troublemaker" by producer Ken Warwick for questioning his contract (which he called "slavetract")
  • Because of his "troublemaker" status, he felt like he was cut from the show and not invited to the Wild Card performance even though he received high praise from the judges
  • He claims producers wanted to exploit his "hood" backstory, but he refused
  • Although he thought winner Kris Allen was talented, he felt producers purposefully manipulated the audience into voting for the dark horse winner for a "surprise" ending, insinuating they never wanted Adam to win all along
  • His view of American Idol allowing the public to ultimately choose a winner: "Do you think a billion-dollar enterprise is subject to the whim of the public?"

Pretty powerful words, America. What do you think: Are the claims of manipulation exaggerated, or do you think Ju'Not Joyner has a valid point  in feeling like the show is fixed?

The aforementioned points and additional information on this topic can be found on Lyndsey Parker's blog, Reality Rocks.

I think that he may be on to something .... I have auditioned for American Idol TWICE, I have traveled to several states to audition if I was not "CHOSEN" in one ... I agree what he says about why would a muti-billion dollar enterprise trust america for every decision . I have an example :

I auditioned in Denver, Co one year for Idol, first of all there is a multi million dollar contract you have to sign to even audition, then when I did audition a guy sang the same song that I did right before my audition(which was NOT for the TV judges) , he sang it HORRIBLY and got to go thru to the show I sang it, everyone around me was cheering and clapping I DIDNT get put thru . There was 4 days worth of auditions before u even got to sing for the "TV JUDGES" .... so yes I tend to agree that its rigged in SOME way . Wanna know more ??? email me : j.chant@hotmail.com

    Thanx-

I believe Junot. He is telling us the truth and giving us confirmation that the show is truly rigged. The show should not deceive us into thinking that the winner won by votes. If they want somebody to win, they should just be the one to judge. They are wasting our precious time and money.
