RAINIER — A Rainier woman is reportedly in critical condition following a single vehicle rollover crash on Nov. 20 east of Rainier. A medical problem could be to blame, according to Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers who are investigating the crash.
At 1:51 p.m., Rainier resident Alice Perry, 77, was driving westbound on Highway 30 near milepost 44 when her four-door 2005 Buick Century drove off the right side of the highway and into a ditch. The vehicle then flipped onto its top, according to Recruit Trooper Kim Evans.
Rainier Fire personnel extricated Perry from her vehicle after the car’s airbags deployed. She was transported to Oregon Health Sciences University hospital via ambulance. Troopers say she was using safety restraints at the time of the crash.
OSP troopers from the St. Helens work site are continuing the investigation. The Rainier Police Department, Columbia County Sheriff's Office and ODOT assisted at the scene.
For half an hour, the highway was closed before opening to one lane. At 4 p.m., the highway was fully open to traffic.
