Technology allows LA Boxing Franchise Corp. president Anthony Geisler to run his Costa Mesa, California, company and manage his franchisees nationwide. Here are some of his preferred tech tools and how they make business a little bit easier.
Must-have for mobility: For Geisler, it's his iPhone. With text, e-mail, internet and more, it lets him be "local without being in the office," says Geisler. "I left for Europe for a month and didn't tell anyone. No one knew I was gone, but I was able to keep status quo."
Favorite app: The GPS feature on his iPhone is one of Geisler's favorite. While abroad, it helped him find his way back to the hotel. But for business, he uses OpenTable the most to make reservations for business lunches.
Mac or PC: On the road, Geisler prefers his Mac Airbook because the slim, lightweight notebook can be easily layered between clothes in his checked luggage. Says Geisler, "It's a hell of a lot easier."
What Web 2.0 means to him: "For LA Boxing, the web generates tons of leads," he explains, "millions a month to the site!" The company is getting ready to launch a social media campaign through channels like Myspace, Twitter and YouTube to reach the large percentage of Millenials that make up its member base - the franchise's average member is 29.
Necessary news outlet: Just like last week's "Tech Pick" entrepreneur, Geisler is another proponent of getting his news updates at AOL.com. "Oddly enough, I've been on AOL since day one," he admits. "And when I log into my e-mail, it always has a few highlighted stories."
