Prepare your business for the coming Windows 7, Snow Leopard wars. The prize is your purse and your precious IT dollars, the stakes are high, and the battle is about to begin.
No one knows who will be the ultimate winner. More likely than not it will be somewhat of a draw. Mac users and Mac converts will choose Snow Leopard while Windows users and some Windows converts will opt for Windows 7. But that isn't going to slow down the mega-advertising machine powered by Apple and Microsoft one iota from trying to win you over to one camp or the other.
This David verses Goliath battle has been picked up by none other then BusinessWeek. In an article entitled, “Can Apple Spoil Microsoft's Day?” BusinessWeek quotes Apple's Senior Vice President for Marketing, Phil Schiller about the coming challenge. "(Windows 7) presents a very good opportunity for us," Schiller claims.
One has to wonder how a Microsoft Operating System designed to succeed and one-better Windows XP (and, yes, Windows Vista) and one that is preparing to go head-to-head with Snow Leopard, could possibly represent a good business opportunity for Apple. According to Peter Burrows, Senior Writer for BusinessWeek, the key is that “Apple (remains) calm, cool, and confident that the tech world is marching in its direction.”
In other words, Apple believes the adage “every knock is a boost” holds true in the Operating System wars.
Business Week goes on to quote Schiller as saying that, “We've been through these transitions before, and no matter how you look at it—it's still Windows...When all is said and done, the Mac picks up (market) share a bit at a time."
So get ready for the perfect storm of advertisements all aiming at your mind and your corporate coffers. You can expect a barrage of television, print and on-line ads attempting to win your business users over to one camp or the other. It's easy to visualize the next round between that oh-so-cute seven-year old Kelly happily declaring that she “found these happy (Windows 7) words all over my dad's computer!”verses those tried and true Mac stars, Justin Long and John Hodgman.
Look closely enough as the two behemoths lock horns and prepare for that battle and you will see a tiny little penguin standing by the side of the battlefield. He's clapping and smiling. That penguin is none other than Ubuntu Linux. He stands on the sidelines ready to release his own newest version, Ubuntu 9.10. The final Ubuntu version will be released on 29 October 2009—a mere week after Windows 7's formal debut. The penguin is doing this without much fanfare, with little to no advertising budget, but with plenty of features to offer the users who may decide that neither Snow Leopard or Windows 7 is their cup of business tea.
If all goes as it should, the ultimate winner is likely to be you. You get to pick which of the Operating System or systems work best for your business. May the best little cutie, suave guy or penguin win.

Mac is faster, end of story.

Open source is the future. Go GNU/Linux!
The tiger (Mac) is a strong animal that can attack other animals and then eats them. It's strong but it can not win against humans, which is the reason its almost has been extinct.
The butterfly (Windows) is a beautiful animal which lives in the summer but dies in the winter. Before it becomes this beautiful animal it is an ugly catapilar eating plants.
The penguin (Linux) is not the most beautiful animal but is extremly strong. It can survive temperatures far below 0 and it has no fear for humans. In the winter the males stand close to eachother (showing their skill to work together) to withstand the extreme cold and to protect the egg.
