HTC is hosting an exclusive private session at CES next week to unveil a new touch-screen tablet. The tablet is Android powered and a multi-touch display, and is obviously timed to compete with Apple’s impending release of their tablet, the iSlate.
HTC has been working in a covert partnership with Google on this tablet for the last 18 months. In addition to the touch sensitive screen, the table features a Qualcomm processor, and new productivity software from Adobe. This tablet is believed to be just one of several models to be released in the next 24 months, the most notable being one powered by Google’s Chrome OS.
Although the agenda of the secret meeting has not been confirmed, if HTC does announce a tablet release it will be a blow to Apple. How large of a blow, of course, will be dictated by the systems specs, software, and user interface.
Do you think HTC has the gravitas to beat Apple to the punch? What do you think?

Why would it be a blow to Apple?
Unless it is insanely great and has the kind of ecosystem whatever Apple announces has (which may have a different name than iSlate by this point), it won't be a blow.
And if it is really good and what Apple creates is really good, there may be enough people interested in buying them that they'll both do well (and other people will continue to buy Kindles).
