Just say no on election day

Wanna be President?

A big chunk of my "day job" is developing creative solutions to complex problems that client's experience.

More times than not, these "problems" require some very drastic measures to remedy the current conditions.

With this in mind, like most people, I have focused heavily on what has been happening (or not!) in Washington over the last 10 days regarding the "bailout"/"rescue plan" that has consumed the country.

Before I get to my point, let me state the obvious. Republican or Democrat, we have all witnessed a dearth of leadership. If there was any doubt that the Legislative and Executive branches of our government were broken, they have been wiped out!

As unbelievable as this sounds, I can't help but wonder if at this moment a successful, well-respected and nationally known entrepreneur stepped forward as a write-in candidate, would they have a chance to win on November 4th? I am intentionally refraining from including names to this as I don't want to muddy the point being made.

My hypothesis is very simple. With all due respect to Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain, despite what the pollsters and pundits say, as well as the mainstream media and Hollywood, I truly believe that vast amounts of the electorate are disgusted, burdened by the potential of voting for the best of the worst, and want the political nonsense to stop even if this means doing something as radical as writing in a total outsider on November 4th.

Amen, brother!! I am the business law examiner for examiner.com and agree entirely with this examiner's points; I have made several similar ones in my own pre-examiner work.

At the outset, I will say that I am registered as undeclared and always vote for the person rather than the party. Further, I believe strongly in moderation.

On a smaller scale, I feel that the anti-republican backlash in the United States has so strengthened the democrats hold on my state that I often refer to it as the People's Republic of Massachusetts. This allows the democrats to be unresponsive to the voters.

My state rep. is not surprisingly a democrat and is running unopposed like many of his fellow democrats. He is so bad that he and his staff refuse to discuss any issue at all with me. I wrote recently on Craigslist that voters should write in a name if someone runs unopposed. I did it in the primary and will do so again a month from now.

On a related note, I believe strongly that John Kerry played a role in excluding Ralph Nader from the 2004 Massachusetts presidential ballot. This convinced me to write in Nader.
