Car recalls can save lives – and that’s why I want to pass this information along. Ford has issued it’s largest recall in history. More than 14.3 million vehicles are affected. It’s because of a defective cruise control switch that could cause a fire. There have been incidents in Ford Windstar minivans. The company is also recalling some Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles with the same switches even though there have been no reports of fires in those cars. These are older model cars – so here’s the list.
All vehicles covered by the recall are from the 1992 to 2003 model years.
• 1995-2003 model year Ford Windstars
• 2000-2003 Ford Excursion diesels
• 1993-1997 and 1999-2003 Ford F-Super Duty diesels
• 1992-2003 Ford Econolines
• 1995-2002 Ford Explorers and Mercury Mountaineers
• 1995-1997 and 2001-2003 Ford Rangers
• 1994 Ford F53 motor homes.
Ford is expected to notify owners about the recall. You can then take your car to any local Ford dealer, who will make the repairs for free. Notices should go out to owners by the end of the month.
