According to Crain’s, Sears Holdings Corp. announced on Tuesday an innovative new promotion designed to increase sales on Sears.com. Sears will issue a credit of $9 toward future a future purchase of $45 or more Sears.com. To receive the credit customers will need to buy one of 10 highly anticipated hardcover book releases on either Sears.com or its listed competitive sites; Target.com, Amazon.com, and Wal-Mart.com. The list of books includes projected bestsellers like “Going Rogue: An American Life” by Sara Palin and “Breathless” by Dean Koontz.

The book sales program being launched by Sears offers a unique approach as customers can benefit from purchasing the book either from Sears.com or one of its major competitors. Sears.com will be selling the listed books at a higher price point than competing sites. Sears’ price for several of the listed books is being reported as $17.98 while competing sites have reduced the price to $9 or below. Customers purchasing books for the deep discount price at one of its competitors will still receive the credit towards their online purchases.
For customers to claim their $9 book purchase credit customers will need to submit their receipt to Sears.com by email.
