The newly redesigned 2011 Ford Explorer unveiling in New York City is big news in the business world due to the amount of press the new Ford SUV is getting. Jim Farley, Ford’s group vice president of marketing, calls the Ford event, "Explorer day."
This is not the typical auto-show introduction of a new automobile. Ford is going all out using multiple forms of social media including Facebook, Twitter and a video showing Mike Rowe, host of Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs” that was released shortly over midnight.
Win a 2011 Ford Explorer on Facebook: Ford Explorer contest includes $2000 shopping spree
This morning, Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally showed off a red 2011 Ford Explorer on the NBC’s “Today” and appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” to talk about the vehicle. Ford went so far as to bring in trees and a huge mound of dirt and placed the Explorer on top in Herald Square in NYC for all to see.
This isn't the first time that Ford has been innovative when it comes to attracting people to the introduction of a new Ford vehicle. On the eve of the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show, Ford pulled out all the stops with its debut of the 2011 Ford Fiesta. Ford's fuel efficient car arrived on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show in Los Angeles on December 1.
With over 500 millions fans on Facebook and over 33,000 followers on Twitter, Ford is a leader in the auto industry when it comes to using social media to draw in business.
Ford posts quarterly profit: Ford is doing something right. On Friday the company announced that it made $2.6 billion from April through June, its fifth straight quarterly profit. The company, which reported record losses in 2008, now predicts it will end 2011 with more cash than debt.
If you're interested in the 2011 Ford Explorer, you'll have to wait until later in the year. Locally here in RI, those who want the new SUV that might be helpful in what could be another snowy winter, check the lot at Tasca on 1300 Pontiac Avenue in Cranston for the new Explorer this winter.

Nice - and I'm a chevy man :-)
...and I love my foreign car but we're thinking of going back to an SUV later this year. I looked at a GM Hybrid but I sort of dig this one!
Ford is smokin hot
Ford is on a roll
Is the $38K all loaded up? What, if any, are the options? I have a 2008 Mazda CX9 Grand Touring CUV. $40,300 will get you top of the line model for 2011. Can the Explorer compete with that?

Go to the website and build one for the the equivalent price. You get WAY more vehicle with the Explorer than the CX( for that price point.
I'm a foreign car fan myself but I'll have to admit that Ford made this one look nice. I see that it's $28K to start...loaded likely mid to high 30's. That's a lot for an American car but maybe this one will pass muster with those of us who expect more from a car. We'll see!
Ford = IDIOTS
A FWD or F/awd Explorer...??
EcoBoost = Gas Guzzler..!
But dropping the low range is at least a good idea.
"Wire" the wastegate fully open, mill the head to get "native"/base CR of 12:1. And drop a front halfshaft and "wire" the rear drive clutch fully engaged 100% of the time.
Only then would you have a marketable 2012 Explorer
Got something to say?
