Uniwest music & arts in the park

Merrifield Park, Fairfax county’s newest park in Falls Church, kicked off the season with a free concert in the park. The event was sponsored by Uniwest Commercial Realty, developer of the Merrifield Town Center.The park is located behind the Vantage at Merrifield condo/apartments on Strawberry Lane, off Gallows Road.

The first performance in the park was with Masque, an alternative reggae band with pop & rock influence. Although rain delayed the start of the concert, the band did not disappoint as the public enjoyed the concert.

In the park I found Michael Collier, president of Uniwest. Collier is excited about upcoming events on Saturdays throughout the summer. He is pleased that Uniwest has an opportunity to not only play a primary role in developing the town center, but to also give something back by sponsoring events that help the greater Merrifield community enjoy their new environment.

Merrifield Town Center is a planned 31-acre site assembled to establish a central gathering place. There will be approximately 1.8 million square feet of community-serving retail, hotel, dining, office and residential. A Festival Street and pedestrian-friendly Main Street is also planned. It is an exciting development and is sure to become one of Northern Virginia’s hot spots.

The town center is already starting to buzz with pedestrian traffic driven by Four Sisters Restaurant, Sea Pearl Restaurant, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Cold Stone Creamery, FedEx Kinkos, Merrifield Tailors, Panera Bread, Noodles & Company, XSport Fitness, Citibank, Pastry XPO, Hair Cuttery, and the Vantage apartments. People are enjoying the atmosphere at the umbrella covered sidewalk tables, by the water fountains in the park, and sitting on their balconies.
