The Cincinnati Ohio area is primarily of German background. When it comes to cooking hot dogs and brats, Cincinnatians can come up with some delicious toppings.
The Works is a hot dog recipe that has "the works". It includes another German favorite, sauerkraut.
The Works
1 package of hot dogs
15 ounce can chili with beans
7 ounce can of corn
7 ounce can sauerkraut, drained
1 package hot dog buns
Fix the hot dogs the way you like them, grilled, boiled or even in the microwave.
In a small saucepan, heat the chili and the corn for about 5 minutes.
Place the cooked hot dogs in the buns.
Add the chili mix on top of the hot dog.
On top of the chili mix, add the sauerkraut and enjoy!
