The Hand Card is a great homemade valentine...(me giving myself a hand)
Making homemade crafts with kids this Valentines Day is fun. Instead of buying tons of Valentines Day cards for your child to send to family members and friends, have her trace her hand, photo copy it, and let her decorate his or her own hand with a watch, jewelry, etc.
Materials
White paper, pencils and/or colored pencils, a dark marker or sharpie, colored markers or crayons (or pencils), glitter glue and/or stickers.

On plain white paper, trace the hand in pencil. Draw on heart-shaped fingernails. Retrace all the lines with the marker and add a Valentine's message, like, "You're Hand-some Valentine" or "Hand me my heart back, Valentine", or you can quote a song like, "I wanna hold your hand" or, "I hand the time of my life", or "Take my hand, I'm a stranger in paradise"...(which would be pretty funny from a kid).
-
Photocopy the hand. Then let your child decorate the hand by useing markers or crayons, glitter glue, and stickers to paint the nails and add jewelry.

Clever! I make home collage cards- cut magazine photos- preferably in red tones and mount on some paper or card-stock weight paper.
