Before Ellis Island processed it’s first immigrant, Galveston was the gateway to thousands of immigrants from 1845-1924. This often overlooked piece of history is about to be rediscovered with the opening of the Forgotten Gateway: Coming to America Through Galveston Island exhibit at Moody Gardens. The exhibit opens tomorrow, November 21. Admission is $8.95.
The exhibit will highlight the important role that Galveston Island has played in immigration. Learn about the dangers of the journey that many took and how people made new lives in a new land. Learn what challenges people were willing to endure to become an American. This exhibit is a great attraction for families to do together around Thanksgiving. Be thankful for where we live and see what people did to get the very lives that we live.
For more information on this exhibit visit Moody Garden’s website. If you enjoyed this article on the latest exhibit addition to Moody Gardens then read about their Festival of Lights.
