Shanika is a freelance writer and communications consultant who has resided in Grand Rapids, MI for almost four years. As a newbie to the area, Carter has finally learned how to enjoy all the city has to offer but on a budget. With a Bachelor's degree in advertising (Michigan State University), and a Master's degree in communications (Grand Valley State University), Carter's experience includes writing, marketing communications, public relations, research, editing, public speaking, event planning and graphic design. She is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in management/organizational leadership with aspirations of consulting, teaching and writing on the value of incorporating open communication within the workplace to develop better relationships amongst leaders and employees.
