As a crafter on a budget, the thrift stores are your friends. Not only are they great places to find supplies but also cast off pieces that you can bring back to life with a little creativity. A big trend in crafting these days is altered clothing. Take a spin around the blogosphere and you'll see altered tees, jeans turned into skirts and all manner of fun accesories from vintage zipper headbands to spray painted shoes. FInding clothing at the thrift stores saves you money, allows you to show off your creative skills and sport a piece of one of a kind piece.

Savers, a national thrift store chain, is opening a new location in Holbrook, New York. To celebrate their grand opening, the store will be having a fashion show to benefit the Long Island chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
