It's the most wonderful time of the year. Black Friday. It is the time of year when malls get crowded and you find yourself getting caught in holiday traffic. There are some things that you can do to lighten the stress. Stay local.
Why? Some of the most popular companies with the richest CEO's support Obama and his Cap and Trade policies. His policy that is supposed to help the evironment by capping emissions and create jobs at the same time. When in realty it is going to put more hardships on the consumer in the costs of gas and energy taxes, up to $3,000 more for the family of four.
Cap and trade simply is about capping the amount of emissions that companies produce and then companies having to trade emissions credits with other companies in order to be able to produce a higher number of emissions. This would reak havock on the American economy as some companies would painstakiingly have to revamp or change their method of operations to stay in business. Some companies in this economy would ot be able to afford it. Therefore closing, more layoffs, etc. etc.
The results are that Government gets bigger and bigger while American business opportunities get smaller and smaller. This bill is opposed by the US Chamber Commerce so much so that Obama has taken this valuable resource representing US companies out of the bargaining progress and is dealing directly with American companies, those that support his agenda. You can find out more about Cap and Trade here.
Therefore, National Center for Public Policy fellow Tom Borelli is asking that all who oppose Cap-and-Trade avoid the companies who are supporting him. When you go out and do your Holiday rounds, avoid grabbing for that cup of Starbucks. Also, don't buy anything Nike or Disney. Stay away from GE electronics (not state of the art anymore anyhow). Also don't trade with Goldman Sachs. These are all companies who support Obama's agenda and want their elitist seats at the bargaining table.
Just support Mom and Pop. They are struggling so much and just trying to stay afloat. Buy your coffee and danish from the local bakery. They taste better than Starbucks anyway because there is none of that business about no trans fats. Buy clothes from the local clothing boutique. They are more unique. Supporting your local main street helps helps your property values too.
Tom Borelli and his wife, Deneen are a power couple who spoke on Cap and Trade at the Harrisburg Tea Party given by the Tea Party Patriots of Philadelphia. Below are their videos. Take it to heart this season to buy local and do not support the roundtable of companies who are for Obama's agenda. In the spirit of the season, buy local.

Doreen, supporting local Main Streets and their independent businesses is one of the best strategies for economic stimulus. The SBA reports that small businesses employ about half of all private sector employees. Studies by Civic Economics & others show that more money is recirculated back into the local economy when spent at indp. businesses than with chains (where more of the revenue is sent back to their out-of-state headquarters than in local community). For example, in Grand Rapids, they found that if people shifted just 10% of their spending to small businesses, it could generate $140M in economic activity. Plus by shopping in Main Street districts, customers get the added bonus of enjoying a beautiful historic atmosphere, local heritage, and a variety of events all year round. These benefits are encapsulated in a video on the National Trust Main Street Center's homepage, if you are interested.
