Congressman Murphy of the Eighth Congressional District, (8-PA) gave constituents a true view of what life will bill like under the proposed healthcare legislation. He made a crowd of 70 concerned constituents wait over three hours to meet with him about healthcare. Was he trying to show us the future of what doctors offices and emergency rooms might look like when healthcare passes, on a good day?
Apparently what had happened was that Congressman Murphy was only supposed to meet with people and address their concerns individually. So many people showed up to talk about healthcare that at the demands of the crowd and Congressional Candidate Rob "Read the Bill" Mitchell, Murphy relented and had a townhall. Three hours after cowering behind closed doors, and the ordering of eight pizzas courtesy of the Mitchell campaign, Congressman Murphy emerged. Mitchell's account of the events can be found here.
Of course, the biggest concern was the passage of the healthcare legislation. Congressman Murphy bobbed and weaved questions just like a prize fighter. He would not definitively say if he would vote for the bill, but espoused the same rhetoric we have all heard like the bill is deficit neutral and that it will help the economy. Regarding the economy, he also talked about how this bill is going to help the economy and how the administration is going to create green jobs and blah, blah, blah, ba blah.
This clearly shows Patrick Murphy's elitist attitude and that he has not been addressing his constituents needs. He had yet to have a public forum on healthcare and last night he was forced into one. It is a travesty though that this crowd was made to wait so long.
The Congressman and his staff should have handled this differently instead of being rude to constituents and making them wait over three hours to see and hear their Congressman in a public forum. He could have addressed the whole crowd right away and then made individual appointments with others who would want to see him later. Instead, the Congressman's will superseded the people's will, a problem of late all over the country.
Murphy has forgotten who elected him. He is voting for things that his people do not want. This so called blue dog is a lap dog. In November, he will be a lost dog. By the way, Murphy did not read the bill.

Please be aware the whole plan, no matter what is actually passed, no matter what is said, no matter what anyone thinks, it's ALL about the Public Option .Otherwise, there is no point.
We, caring, honest democrats, want everyone in a Medicare/Medicaid-like system that saves money, with greater access, prohibits abortions, and exclude illegals I know everyone will be pleased .And, not to worry, I'll make sure Botox treatments are covered
And Nancy....
You never lie and you're always right...I'm glad I'm dead...
I think Mitchell should take his own advice and read the bill and stop spouting some of his crazy rhetoric. But then someone like Doreen could also read it, or actually report what Congressman Murphy actually said at his town hall instead of "blah, blah, blah." Instead I am sure you will continue to be a lackey for the insurance industry, who must always be right. We would want insurance companies to actually have good competition. Let's let the greatest country in the world let a few more of their own die because the insurance companies need to make more money.
I have never really been politically active in my life but from the answers that I have gotten fro Murphy and Spector I will be out ringing doorbells and passing out handbills for whom ever wins the Republican nominations I have already aquired 100 "Benedict Arlen" bumperstickers to hand out If I wasn't on a fixed income I would donate the max to remove these traitors to the U.S.A.
It took 3 hours for Murphy to meet with only 12 individuals, staffers kept letting people get on that list, even though the large group of 50+ constituents had been there since before 6:00pm. Staffers it seemed, were hoping that most of the constituents would simply give up and go home. They could hardly hide their contempt. They underestimated the persistence of this crowd.
