On Saturday the ultimate in government corruption took place. Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) accepted $300 million dollars for her state in return for vote on Healthcare. Landrieu, the 60th vote needed to get healthcare to debate, held the make or break final vote. Now more of the same could be in store for Democrats who are widening the gap and breaking away from leadership for the final vote on healthcare.
According to Financial Times, on Sunday the actions of Senate leadership has antagonised some Democrats. Democrats in leadership are worried more about making history than about the direction of the country. True leaders learn from history, not try to make it.
What we should learn from history is about how many men and women have died trying to defend the very freedoms that Congressional leadership is trying to take away. How many died in the name of freedom, freedom of the marketplace and freedom of individuals. This bill is Socialism, plain and simple and the bribes that go along with it are corrupt. If a lobbyist from an insurance company threw $300 million dollars at Mary Landrieu to influence her vote, it would be considered bribery. It is ok though when the Senate leaders do it.
What also can be learned from history? Our enemies rise to power with vehicles such as Healthcare. Perfect example, the Third Reich. They used healthcare as a vehicle to come into power then they exterminated those who were a burden on society. "Death Panels" sound familiar? Ironic that we were the ones who liberated Germany and now we are emulating it.
Has Congress looked at Real Clear Politics lately. It's approval rating is at 27%. 57% percent think that the country is headed in the wrong direction. Still the Congressional elite hold their noses in the air and think that they know better than the masses or are they trying to do all they can before the fallout in 2010?
This healthcare bill is Congress's one last chance to regain America's confidence. The way that they can do that is no more shady deals and forget about this bill all together.

I agree Ron... and I don't know about you, but I feel pretty swell knowing that my tax dollars are going towards political prostitution and earmarks.... money well spent don't you think? How dare you Senator Landrieu??? Indeed Harry.... get all you can right now because 2010 is coming fast.
I think it's absolutely disgusting. But I'm also bothered by the fact that the writer correlates Nazis and socialism to the Obama Health Care. That's ridiculous and unfair. I also find it entertaining that these same conservatives embraced Bush with his lies, no-bid contracts, closed door Energy Task Force meetings which included big oil etc. Bush did whatever he had to do to get his agenda taken care of, I'm glad to see that Obama is growing some and deciding to do what he has to do in order to see that his agenda is met. So again I ask, how is a public option socialism?
