The Accidental Pervert is playing at The Players Theatre, 115 MacDougal Street (between West 3rd Street and Minetta Lane). Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM and tickets are $30. Directed by Charles Messina and written and performed by Andrew Goffman, The Accidental Pervert is the true accounting of one boy's odyssey to manhood via a childhood dominated by pornography. Happening upon his father's collection of XXX-rated video tapes in the bedroom closet at 11, his journey begins. Goffman hysterically takes us on a self-deprecating journey into a world of video vixens, X-rated fantasies, and really dirty movies, until at 26 he meets his wife and has his first child... a daughter. This show is a one-man tour de force that will have women and men laughing at the whole experience. You know you are in for a wild ride when Goffman states "Ya know, none of us starts out to be a pervert," in a wide eyed innocent stare. You will never look at a tee shirt or the twist again in the same context. This show is like a Mr. Toad's Wild ride through the porn world of yesterday with an ending that is realistic and full of heart. The audio and visual design by Andre Wingert and graphic design by Robert Tallon, accent Goffman's script to a tee. The use of the audio video because a silent voice allowing us to see into the mind. Porn video and their stars have never become more vibrant and alive. Journeys should start off, at one place and leave us in another and The Accidental Pervert leaves us satisfied and complete.
