Pearls are a wedding gown’s best friend just as much as that diamond on your finger is yours. But unless that strand of pearls is your “something old,” get in the game……..go gaudy or go home. Statement jewelry with your bridal gown is a super fun trend to participate in. Don’t be afraid of color, bold jewelry can be the exclamation point to your look. However, if your gown is already dripping with crystal embellishments or beading, jeweled accessories can push you right over the edge, so proceed with caution. Fashion forward brides with red carpet inspired gowns can benefit from unique, color accented jewelry whether it is a necklace or earrings, but rarely ever both. The goal is gaudy done right, not wrong. Your white gown is the perfect backdrop for a large stone cluster necklace or a pair of fantastic drop earrings. If you still can’t abandon your pearls go with a multi-strand necklace with a broach on the latch and wear it so the broach shows. A big trend now are over-sized pearls, they create great visual interest. The difference is in the details. The jewelry doesn’t have to be expensive, unless you are printing your wedding announcement in the New York Times where they announce the bride’s designer labels, you’ll be fine. After you’ve got the gown don’t rule out the jewelry, gaudy can be good.
