People magazine reports that Robin Wright-Penn filed for divorce from Sean Penn Aug. 12, 2009 in Marin County, California. The couple have been married since 1996.
De'ja' vu, anyone? This is the third time divorce papers have been filed in the matter of a few years. The first papers were filed by Mr. Penn on December 7, 2007, but were denied, leading Mrs. Penn to re-file on December 21 of the same year.
Public speculation has it that the Penn's filed for divorce in December 2007 because of Sean Penn's infidelity. According to "The Insider" Wright-Penn walked in on her husband in bed with 2 Russian Women during their Lake Tahoe, CA vacation. And a few days after the December 2007 papers were filed, US Weekly claimed that Mr. Penn was seen on a date with a mystery brunette.
I thought that maybe this time the papers were filed because he didn't thank his wife in his acceptance speech when he won the award for "Milk" in February, 2009. However,in the latest set of divorce papers, the couple cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.
When asked if she would try to reconcile with her husband, Wright-Penn said, "I hit that crossroad a while ago. I know what I don't want."?
The actors will share custody of Hopper Jack, their 16-year-old son, while daughter Dylan Frances, 18, is off to college.
