The Bradley Men's Soccer Team captured the title in the Busey Bank Kickoff Festival by defeating Mercer 3-0 on Sunday, behind three goals from senior forward Chris Cutshaw.
Bradley (2-0-1) dueled Memphis to a 1-1 draw on Friday night, and won the tournament based on the second tiebreaker rule of total goal differential. Memphis defeated Eastern Illinois 2-0 on Saturday,
leaving Bradley with a +3 differential to +2 for the Tigers.
Cutshaw recorded the seventh hat trick in team history, and junior goalkeeper Drew Van Kampen was credited with his first shutout of the season, despite not facing a single shot on goal. Cutshaw has tallied five of the six Bradley regular season goals and has 27 goals in his career, tied for fifth in school history. Gavin Glinton is the school career leader with 53, but with Bryan Namoff ranked second at 32, it is highly likely Cutshaw will hold that spot before the season is over.
The Braves stay at home for the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational, beginning on September 11. Bradley plays Western Michigan at 7:30pm Friday, and Xavier at 7:30pm Saturday, both at Shea Stadium.
