All week people were talking about Manny Pacquiao’s achievement and rightly so. Even after Miguel Cotto, a fearsome puncher, landed his best shots, Pacquiao never seemed to flinch. The Philippine wonder has accomplished much by mastering his peers all the way from flyweight up to welterweight, beating boxers from the 105 pounds weight class right up to the 147 pounders. Becoming the world champion in seven different weight classes is something we will not likely see again. For many years Manny Pacquiao has been a legend in the Philippines and now he’s a legend worldwide.

Less we forget there were some other major boxing matches that took place during the week.

With his victory, Ward gained much confidence in his bid to become one of the next super stars in the fight game. Ward demonstrated that he is quite proficient whether on defense or offense. His in and out attacking style frustrated Kessler who is much more accustomed to a fighter who just stands there and slugs it out.

Ward’s next scheduled fight is against Jermain Taylor.  Yes, despite his recent problems with concussions, headaches and being a knockout victim  to Arthur Abraham and his TKO loss to Carl Froch, Taylor plans to stay in the Super Six Tournament. Early prediction is in order: Taylor will not be able to handle the younger boxer who can easily switch from orthodox to lefty. Ward has all the tools.
