Pacquiao vs. Clottey?

Something seemed a little odd last night when quietly, Top Rank's Facebook page noted that Floyd Mayweather was essentially sh*t out of luck as Manny Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KOs) would now instead face former welterweight titlist Joshua Clottey on March 13 in Las Vegas.  Later in the evening, the message was removed from the site - perhaps someone jumped the gun a little too soon.

However, trainer Freddie Roach has told ESPN.com's Brian Kenny today that Manny has indeed agreed to take the fight against Clottey for that date.  Whether it will be in Las Vegas as was mentioned on Facebook last night is still unsure but we all know that the Pacman loves Sin City.

Meanwhile, Floyd Mayweather Jr. continues to insist that he still wants the fight but the fight as of today continues to appear dead in the water.

As for Clottey (35-3, 20 KOs), the brickhouse from Accra, Ghana was on the losing end of his last bout when he was narrowly outpointed by Miguel Cotto for the WBO title; a fight that many feel should've gone to the "Grand Master".

This doesn't mean that a deal has been signed of course, but evidently, unless by some miracle Pacquiao-Mayweather is back on, it'll be Pacquiao-Clottey nine weeks time.  Manny generally trains for eight weeks for his fight so a finalized agreement should be completed soon, one way or another.
