A-side meth required: Filipino elections make Mayweather-Pacquiao look like tea party

Manny Pacquiao lines up a shot at his billiards center in Gensan as "dirty pool" goes on in politics
Manny Pacquiao lines up a shot at his billiards center in Gensan as "dirty pool" goes on in politics

MICHAEL MARLEY'S PHILIPPINE DIARY, PART 11:

GENERAL SANTOS CITY—Dirty laundry is flying everywhere now.

The headlines in the Filipino newspapers, on the websites and the blaring news over the radio and TV airwaves tell the story.

Fraud, corruption, votes being bought, sold and perhaps rented. The threat of violence hangs in the steamy air around Manny Pacquiao's home city in South Cotobato.

The various political camps have gone to the mattresses like Mafia families in an internecine war.

The knives and guns, including assault weapons, are everywhere and, as I said, just the headlines alone tell you what's what as Election Day looms across the 7,000 island archipelago this Monday.

But, first, an “inside story” from Gensan as told to me Wednesday morning by a man who knows his way around Pinoy politics and its minefields.

And, no, it was not the usual suspect, Hermie Rivera.

Manny Pacquiao's is the National Fist but will his popularity generate Congressional race victory against Chiongbian family dynasty in Sarangani next Monday? Right now, this elections seems too close to call although Pacman aides claim three polls showing the fighter with a whopping lead over Roy Chiongbian

“One of our local candidates held a meeting with his staff and was told the opposition is bringing charges that this candidate has been buying votes, handing pisos to people who will cast their ballot for him.

“The candidate was not amused at the dirty allegations and he told his staff they must deny such “black propaganda” through all available channels and do so immediately.

“Five minutes later, said candidate started receiving more visitors at his headquarters, all of whom were looking for and getting a handout and not a hand up.

Pacquiao commercial complex, particularly the Billiards Center where fighter appears almost nightly when not in training for a bout, is center of nightlife in General Santos City (Michael Marley Photo)

“The same character who denounced vote buying charges flipped the script and went back to doing what he does best, purchasing what he hopes will be enough votes to get him elected,” this man reported.

“Meanwhile, the candidate said he will shortly call a press conference to rip into his foe for playing such dirty pool, for committing such dastardly and flagrantly illegal deeds.”

This is the backdrop, the steaming cauldron if you will, to the Pacquiao-Roy Chiongbian knockdown, dragout battle for the Congressional seat from Sarangani Province.

This is how they roll in the rough and tumble world of politics in the Pearl of the Orient.

It all makes boxing seem almost like a pristine stream, does it not?

More headlines as to Election Day as taken from the pages of hugely influential Philippine Daily, Inquirer:

**** VOTING MACHINES FAIL, WE'RE PLAYING WITH FIRE HERE

**** LOCAL RACES SPAWN MORE MURDERS, ATTACKS

**** REBEL PRIEST (CALLS FOR) ARMED REVOLT, NOT ELECTIONS

**** POSTPONE ELECTIONS (15 DAYS) PRESIDENT GMA LAWYER URGES

**** SOLDIERS GUARD METRO MANILA HOTSPOTS

**** CALLS FOR MANUAL VOTE COUNT MOUNT BUT COMELEC SAYS NO

**** NORTHERN, EASTERN POLICE ALL SET FOR MAY 10 POLLS

That's Pinoy politics and I want you “kanos” meaning Americanos to know this.

Politics ain't beanbag over here.

It is full contact and, at the same time, full karate.

You dig?

Which reminds me, I wonder how many deceased people will be pulling the levers of the automated voting machines...if they work.

You can expect the mud and the fur to keep flying, fast and furious, as Election Day draws nearer.

That goes for Manny's Congressional quest and for every other contested election in the nation.

This just in: Three knockdown rule have been waived for Pacquiao-Chiongbian, for the heated and seemingly wide open presidential campaign and, I guess, even to become dogcatcher.

Or should I say dogcooker?

The mandatory low blow rule remains in effect.

Candidates are instructed to never land a fair blow where a foul one can be landed.

Maybe one of those Mayweathers can tell where I can "connect" to score some of that fully protective "A-side meth" that makes Pacman punchproof.

I wish.

Which reminds me that, once they seal their megafight deal, I bet the Pacquiaos invited Floyd Mayweather Jr. over to their "I Love Me" spa for a free facial.

After that, Manny plans to give the "kano" a $50 million leather facial.

Mayweather is on his own for a pedicure but he can afford it.

    BLOOD... part 2of2
    pacquiao's case:
fact: pacquiao have smaller body than mayweather.
......so taking the same amount of blood is an
    ......advantage for mayweather.

now, if you still don't believe that it will weaken
pacquiao. why don't ask any women who get their
period every month and ask them the side effect.

pacquiao agreed on three blood test(specific number,
since they don't know USADA and to prevent what did
happen to mosley who got tested more and a cut-off
date of 24-days before the fight to recover properly.

if you actually believe that mayweather has no hidden
agenda other than leveling the playing field. then
    you're a fool.

Marley please have the fight of Mosley-Mayweather investigated for the sake of the betting public in Nevada. The fight was clearly rigged, staged, scripted. That's not Mosley we saw in the 3rd to the 12th. That's not a hall of famer boxer there, he was simply trying to make a lot of money for his retirement. How can a very strong fighter suddenly fold on the 3rd round and became novice boxer not knowing how to jab and throw punch. He was off balance all the time and he was telegraphing his punches to Mayweather. They were talking and whispering to each other. The 2nd round was accidental hit of Mosley he did not intend it but Mayweather was hit and almost drop. He held on to the arms of Mosley like a leech and Mosley did do much to ward him off and finish him. The referee too allowed Mayweather to hold on for too long. So on the 3rd round Mosley made up for the mistake and became a comical fighter charging heads onward so Mayweather can hit him. But after the fight, his face was clean.

    BLOOD... part 1of2
    google "wiki blood donation"

under "recovery and time between donations"
Donated plasma is replaced after 2-3 days.
Red blood cells are replaced by bone marrow
into the circulatory system at a slower rate,
on average 36 days in healthy adult males.
In that study, the range was 20 to 59 days
    for recovery.

    mosley's case:
BLOOD is a mix of cells and plasma that carries
oxygen and provides nutrients to every cell in
    the body.

fact: mosley got tested for blood days before
......the fight and more than mayweather
fact: mayweather also got tested but hbo
......did not say dates and number of times.
fact: mosley run out of gas all of sudden,
......its one of the side effects such as
    ......feeling tired.

How can Mosley on the 3rd round run out of gas when he wasnt throwing much punches. Fact is if you watch the fight again, Mosley suddenly didn't know how to box. He was awkward, hesitant, he was tentative. Why because he was trying to avoid what happened in the 2nd round which was not part of the script. An elite boxer and veteran of many fights would suddenly turn novice - charging Mayweather head first then would not throw punch and instead opens up to receive punches that was clearly telegraph. He would also be throwing off balance punches, it was comical but not funny. His left job was open and looping with no power at all. He was telegraphing his punches to Mayweather. He would chase Mayweather only to stop in front of him not giving any punch at all. The stats would not lie. They were talking to each other that had the reporter asking what they were talking about. It must be investigated to protect the betting public. How many lost picking Mosley?
