Pacquiao will now look to conquer Puerto Rico
After devastating Mexico's all-star boxing idols, Manny Pacquiao will look to put a major dent into the boxing pantheon of another one of the sport's major Latin American hotbeds when he measures himself against Puerto Rico's finest Miguel Cotto.
Promotional firm Top Rank made official a bout which has been speculated on and negotiated for the past several weeks.
According to the boxing promotion's Monday afternoon press release, Cotto vs. Pacquiao will take place on Saturday, November 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Philstar.com writer Abac Cordeor adds to the developing story by reporting that the bout will be contested at a catch-weight between junior welterweight and welterweight of 145 pounds.
Cotto, a rugged competitor who presses the action, will face his stiffest challenge against an athletic and powerfull Pacquiao, but Manny will in turn be facing his stiffest challenge since moving from lightweight to batter Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton.
Pacquiao will look to transform from the so-called "Mexi-cutioner" into a "Rican-cutioner" and Cotto will attempt to re-establish the sort of machine-like ring presence that has only faltered against Antonio Margarito and has earned him the name of the "Terminatior".
Cotto will be fighting below the welterweight division limit for the first time since June, 2006 when he battered Paulie Malignaggi over twelve rounds and Pacquiao will face only his second foe at the catch-weight of 145 pounds.

After the fight Cotto will say "I wish I did not fight this guy with a machine hand" but on the other hand he will thank Manny for the big bucks he will earn. Good luck to both of u but I think Manny in 5th it's to much speed and power for Cotto

Yeah, who the heck was the first he faced at the 145 lbs catchweight? This is either a typo (which is unlikely given the sentence construction) or an attempt to make it seem like Manny is in the habit of demanding catchweights. While he fought "old man" ODLH (and the other excuses his camp - and the paid hacks masquerading as writers - makes AFTER he lost despite claiming being in top shape BEFORE and acknowledging Manny's win as legitimate immediately after) below the 147 limit, it was a 147 bout. Manny fighting below the limit does not make it a catchweight Mr. Manny-will-do-the-chicken-dance-oops-I-just-made-another-wrong-prediction.

Miguel has already a power punch, all he needs now is to tighten his defense. He is also hittable like Ricky and if Manny catch him either both hands is not good. Manny's power was already tested to a bigger guy. Oscar was forced to hold the rope in 7th round to stay up while Manny's bombarding him. If Miguel catches those kind of power punches, I don't know what will gonna happen to him.

Why such an issue when PACMAN wants to fight Cotto in 143lbs. Anti-pacman will say that is a pacquiao advantage. What they did'nt see is Manny need to gain more weight than Cotto needs to loose.
