Cotto begins the long road to Pacquiao

Cotto starts the march to battle on November 14

They say the fight is not signed yet.  It is unclear if the WBO welterweight title will be on the line.  But one thing is certain, Miguel Cotto began the long process of preparing for his encounter with Manny Pacquiao today.

With the fight taking place on November 14, Miguel Cotto started his running regiment for the bout today at Jesús María Freire de Cidra Stadium in his hometown of Caguas, Puerto Rico and then hit the gym.  Cotto vs. Pacquiao is still fifteen weeks away.

It is expected that in a few weeks, Cotto will move his training camp to Tampa, Florida to escape the attention and pressures of his homeland.

Strange things do happen. In Cotto's imagination there will be a fight with Pacquiao. How could this be if contract has not been signed? And his petty attitudes continue to build road blocks to a meaningful negotiations with Pacquiao.

Cotto, please practice avoiding coming bullets, because that's like when you fight Manny, bullet punches of pacman coming from every corner of the ring and you have no choice but to kneeldown and surrender the fight!!!!

it will be a first round knockout, cotto can not match the speed and power of pacman, actually all of these baloney alibis are excuses of cotto just to avoid the bout, he is so ashame to say that he dont want to fight because he knows it will be the end of his boxing career, sooner or later pacman will get his 7th belt and odlh will cry out loud, this time odlh will not quit crying, i wonder how much money he paid cotto just to elude pacman

nice one for cotto to train early but never use that as an excuse for him being overtrained. Better wear armors and helmet when you step up the ring. You'll be blinded by the gushes of pacific storm.

This means Cotto will stake his tittle man that Pacquiao better stop playing around and get to work why would Cotto start training if he thought there was going to be any delays 145 for the tittle what kind of message is that going to send to the next generation they are going to think I might move up to WW and fight so and so at 141 for the tittle or jr middle at 150lbs this is just the begining of this catch weight bs

Boxing writers should prepare an excuse letter prior to the fight in order to nullify the legacy of packy should he win this match.
I hope they will use a new excuse in lieu of the previously overused terms, i.e.: weight drained (hence 145), over-the-hill (paradox to Cotto being 28), over-trained (as per Hatton excuse, which is obvious right now early training), psychological and problems in camp (same Barrera Forrest Fire in Big Bear, Fight with Uncle, litigation with Uncle/Trainer)..
I guess a prominent reasoning here will be the psychological aspect because Cotto was forced to stake his Belt thereby having effects in his mental preparation because he should still be Champ even if he loses the fight...

Cotto in the other hand has everything set up and on schedule soon he will be in Tampa Fl. You guys are sweating Miguel because he is working out 3 days a week so he can stared getting focus and mantaining his self fit. Please give me a break and grow up son.

cotto must have pure stamina to contain PACMAN! i think its PACMAN's stamina that will break cotto out. cotto retires at late rounds wyl PACMAN is still doing the same thing like the early rounds. cotto cannot match PACMAN's speed...so d best thing is to train hard. but this fight is a great fight to all. coz we can see the PACMAN doing action again n amazed us by knocking cotto out.

NO ONE WANTS TO BE PART WITH CLOTTEY AND HE DID. PEOPLE ARE SAYING HE WAS A DAMAGE GOODS BUT I HE'S NOT! (THEY JUST DONT HAVE ANYTHING TO WRITE THATS WHAT IT IS!)

I STILL FEAR OF PACMAN LOSING TO THESE GUY.

    BOTH ARE EXCELLENT WARRIORS!

this is not really related but i just would like to say that what top rank and wbo is doing to make the fight a title fight is wrong. in the first place, pacquiao initially agreed to a non-title fight. he even released an official statement stating the reason why the title would not be on the line. clearly pacquiao camp in the wrong here, specifically that stu pid lawyer of his, franklin gacal who's job should be to examine the contract terms and state their demands. i dont care what others say, pacquiao camp dont know how to properly negotiate, they should have had this in their list of demands in the first place. they previously agreed to a non-title fight so the fight should be non-title. that is their fault, not cottos camp. i wanted to cheer for pacquiao but now i hope cotto wins. this will surely serve as a motivation for him to win. to cotto, win this fight and punish pacquiao for being a big baby and a man who cant be trusted for his word.

cotto is expecting the fight to happen, the pressure is on him now. Sure he will stake the belt for this (what the hell), and in 145bls. (what the hell), in smaller share of 35% maximum, (what the hell), He will lose one way or another, 35% (or estimated 5M dollars)is a lot money anyways!

  • brawler 2 years ago

Nobody's perfect! Pacman can change his words like everybody else, what he says is not a promise to fulfill but word of a man what he wants that can be changed in the negotiating table, that is if you are broad minded not unlike boyarante!

  • boyarate 2 years ago
    Report Abuse

a deal is a deal. if somethings not right, its not right, whatever else people say. its not about being broad-minded, its about manning up to what you agreed upon. sure theres still no signed contract, but like i said, pacquiao released an official statement why he agreed to the non-title fight. this means he already agreed, and because of that cotto also agreed. if pacquiao initially raised that issue, cotto would also have agreed anyways, but pacquiao camp didnt, then later he adds that demand. would you call that fair? and now cottos being treathen for the fight to be cancelled. im a fan of pacquiao, but what this is, is just plain wrong. now people call me narrow-minded. shouldnt you be calling yourself that? and what do u call someone who agrees to do something wrong and even defends why its being done? brawler? any guess?

Pacquiao does not need to say that he wants a title fight because in all honesty, everyone knows that what he is after. Opinions said by anybody else contrary to that is just an alibi to escape Manny Pacquiao.

hey pac! what's wrong with you.
don't get fooled by this people around you
much of us young filips are lookin up to you
play fair, a 7th belt would be worth nothing if u'd get it the corrupt way like like politicians do in our country. don't get along with these ideas of "bribery". unless you chose now to practice the politics that is now spoiling our country. i'm sure that would give as a glimpse of what u'l be if elected the representative of sarangani. you represent now our country, don't let the world think, we filipinos, are oppurtunistic and are afraid of doing things the hard way... we look up on you. you represent the filipinos... don't bribe WBO, you don't need another title to be a hero. you are already! don't spoil it by taking the fishy way this sanctioning entities are ruling their territories... that would just soil you're already growing imposing identity as the greatest boxer in history...

    For your info:
Cotto fights larger guy that no one wants to fight!
he fights margarito, Mosley and clottey!
these are the most avoided fighters but Cotto fight them!
    cotto is very tough guy!
by power Pacman is nowhere near to those guys but because of Pacmans heart he fears no one.
he fight cotto! thats why he ask for catchweight in order to have a fair game!
So you understand? why in the world you become a boxing examiner where you write base only in your opinion!!
cotto is not favored to win pacman bec. he is not that impressive against Clottey! but Pacman is no clottey! Clottey is a legit welter and one of the most avoided welter so think of it! i think 2 lbs is just as very fair!
    understand?

Weezer, don't pretend to be a filipino if you're not, besides, you're never be one if you aren't proud of your "balls" like cotto's doing. why is he afraid in putting his belt in line with pacquiao? pacquiao only does boxing, you understand? there's no need for him to bribe anybody because he can get any fight he wants at this stage of his career. what does cotto bring in this fight, that 5$ silky belt? pacquiao risks all his status as the lb for lb king.

As expected, Cotto will train hard for this fight. He knows exactly who he will be fighting with. His opponent is not a pushover... a p4p king. He knows as well that when Pacman hit his training it will be one hell of a preparation and conditioning.

JROD a 'Pacific Storm' can blown away even an Iron Wall. The only thing your 'Iron Wall'can do is pray... pray that the damage he will get is not that severe that could cause his retirement to the sports at early age...
