CONTINUING COVERAGE:

Friday, the 13th was alive and buzzing with fans inside the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, the site of the welterweight championship showdown between the Philippines' Manny Pacquiao and Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto.  Several Cotto fans brought flags to the MGM Grand late Friday evening, including the large and meandering casino section.  Surprisingly, the vast majority of the Filipino contingent did not wear any Pacquiao shirts or gear but instead wore casual clothes, presumably for a night of partying.

Note:  Late this week, two highly respected boxing analysts and writers picked Miguel Cotto to beat Manny Pacquiao.  ESPN's Dan Rafael and CNNSI's (Sports Illustrated's) Chris Mannix selected the "Boricua Bomber" to prevail over the Pacman.  Meanwhile, Pacquiao's betting odds have climbed to over -280.  Bet at least that much in order to win $100.

Predictions:  Pacquiao vs. Cotto

"I pick Miguel Cotto by ko around the 9th round, I know that Manny is a solid class A fighter, but there is a reason why the 7 weight division champion has not been accomplish in the history of boxing. I know that records are meant to be broken, and i believe Manny can beat some welterweights, but not one of the caliber and finess like Cotto." - Vick Carbone, Boxing Analyst

"Last time out I went against pacman. This time watching 24/7 he has convinced me that he is the harder working fighter. That he has the skills to defeat the tough excellent fighter in Cotto.
The fight will start fast with pacman leading and turning cotto. He will use is foot speed to get around cotto and to stay off the ropes. Pacman will fight when has advantage and move when not ready to fight. Cotto will try everything possible down the stretch but will not have the legs to keep up.
Pacquio by decision. 118-110"
- Alfonso "El Tigre" Lopez, Texas super middleweight / light heavyweight

"I predict a great fight between two of boxing's most exciting warriors. Can Pacman's speed and tenacity overcome Cotto's size and power? Can Cotto break down Pacman's fleet feet with his bludgeoning attack to the body? This is a true test for both fighters. My prediction is that the winner will be the boxing fans!" - John James, Houston Boxing Trainer

"My pick for this weekend - Pacman by stoppage in the 9th round in a great back and forth fight. Despite the courage and will of both Pacman and Cotto, these guys have too much offense for this to go the distance."  Tyler Streeter, Boxing Painter

"I am a fan of both pugilists which makes this an even harder fight to call... But I've got to say Pac Man by decision or mid to late stoppage. Pacquiao should be able to make the necessary adjustments to win unless he is eating Cotto's patented body shots. You can't go wrong when you have Mr. Wild Card himself, Freddie Roach planing and overseeing your battle. If you look at it in military terms, Freddie is the air support to Pacquiao's ground assault - if everybody is communicating on the same frequency you will see Pacquiao's hand raised this Nov. 14th..."  Jace McTier, Boxing Painter

How many times did I tell everyone that all the ALA boxers are HUGE LOSERS. They do not have a chance in the boxing world. I keep saying that they should stop boxing before anything could happen but they did not listen. As a result of their stupid brains, Gorres landed in a COMA.

ALA boxers must stop boxing now or else someone would end up in a coffin. Just leave boxing to the talented Pinoys like Pacquiao and Sonsona. ALA boys must focus on farming.

ALA Boys (boom-boom, banal, mellingen, pagara, melindo, etc) wake up!!!!!!! Boxing is NOT for you. You should plant camote. If you keep on boxing, you will be all end up in hospital just like Gorres. Sad to say but I am just being honest.

ALA boxers are giving bad image to Filipino boxers. These guys must be banned in the USA. They are a bunch of patsies and tuktuk drivers. They give nothing to the Philippines but embarrassment. What a shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems that DYAB and Jack the Wack is the same person. Easy friend you might have a heart attack and die ahead of Z Gorrez. What the reason,s behind that tirade? Its uncalled for, untimely, and harsh betraying your personality. Please don't use the net or this type of forum for your LUNACY. You know DYAB/JACK uncontrolled anger is a form of LUNACY, buang ka bay go have a check with your doctor before its too late. For sure your parents and siblings don't want to see you picking cigarette butts on the streets or talking your hatred with your self. Good riddance.

Superiority will excell that is pacman. GOOD LACK MANNY! I am also praying to GOD for the survival of Z Gorres, if he survived, he should stop boxing.

I predict that Pacquiao will win by 12th round TKO over Cotto after the referee stops his senseless bashing by the Pacman.
