And I don't mean Amir!
This may not get past the editors out in Denver. It is a gratuitous story about a famous brothel outside of Las Vegas, a whole lot of money and the entreprenurial spirit of a fine Dallas citizen.
About 20 years ago I met a wealthy young man named Bruce Kahn. He hit it big in night clubs and a few skank topless clubs in the image-is-everything capitol of the world, Dallas, Texas..His money-makers were Brio in Old Town and Etc. at North Park.
At the time I put closed-circuit fights into the bars so I had an in to Kahn, and we had a few mutual friends. I once had him come by the late fight manager Dave Gorman's gym in Fort Worth where former world champions Donald Curry, Gene Hatcher and Stevie Cruz trained. Kahn couldn't buy the Dallas Cowboys but I thought he might be interested in buying the contracts of a few promising middleweights.
Nothing ever happened except one fighter hustled Kahn for a loan which still hasn't been paid back and I'm still humiliated today.
While reading an alternative weekly paper today online, the dallasobserver.com. I saw old Bruce made an offer to buy the Chicken Ranch and its 40 acres for $15.2 million. He had a deal. But the Nye County officials revoked the deal saying he didn't qualify due to residency concerns and he wasn't financially suitable. Whatever that means.
So Kahn is getting national attention as the federal lawsuit he has filed works it's way through the courts,
What does this have to do with boxing? Nothing really.
I actually thought that the Chicken Ranch was where late heavyweight contender Oscar Bonavena was murdered. But, I found out that happened in 1976 at the Mustang Ranch in Reno, NV..

Hello Matt,
I Google my name every so often to make sure ex girlfriends are not gossiping about my small penis and I came across this. For the sake of journalistic integrity the purchase price was $5.2MM not $15.2MM. Who in their right mind would pay that much for a Whorehouse?I think I saw you at a local MMA thing awhile back? Hope all is well.
Bruce
PS No, the fighter never paid me back.......
Got something to say?
