Country home decor is alive and well in the Fox River Valley. There are three shops that offer quality, well-priced items for the gift giver or home decorator.
In Times Past is located in downtown Appleton's City Center Plaza and specializes in primitive decor. Finely made birdhouses, trivets, wall hangings, and braided rugs are a few of the things available . Cheerful Giver candles, difficult to find in this area, are well stocked as are Davidson's teas. This loose leaf tea is certified organic and is a big seller at the shop. Hot water is always available, so the shopper can try various teas prior to purchase.
The Country Sampler is found near The Fox River Mall and carries a large variety of home decor finds. Stock changes with the seasons/holidays, and many pieces are hand made by consignees. Metal works, wood items (shelves, garbage bins), wreaths, baskets, candles, dishes, and packaged mixes are only a few of the goods found here. This store requires a slow stroll to take in all there is to see.
Gold 'n Country Gifts is off the beaten path but a genuine find. Located between New London and Waupaca, the merchandise and prices are worth the drive. Lawn items are found outside the shop and many are made with recycled metals, ceramics, and wood. Inside are treasures for the gift giver, the antique hunter, or anyone looking for accent pieces. Shopper can happen upon unique finds -- those treasures not seen in other shops. Holiday items are offered as are silk arrangements, retro jewelry, and old books. Gold 'n Country is chock full of unique merchandise.
All three stores have welcoming, relaxed atmospheres that encourage browsing. And with the choices available, shoppers will spend quite a bit of time looking at what is offered.
