Tim Thomas adds his first Vezina Trophy to his all-star season.
Tim Thomas was awarded the 2008-09 Vezina Trophy tonight at the NHL Awards ceremony in Las Vegas, NV.
Thomas led all NHL goaltenders in goals-against average (2.10), and won the Roger Crozier Saving Grace Award for the best save percentage in the NHL (.933) for 116-points Boston Bruins.
Thomas, along with teammate Manny Fernandez, also won the William M. Jennings Trophy for the fewest total goals-against by team goaltenders.
In the 2009 postseason, Thomas started in all 11 games for the Black and Gold with a 7-4 record, 1.85 goals-against average, and a .935 save percentage.
The 35-year old net minder made his second All-Star appearance this season. With his spectacular play in net, Thomas was named the 2009 Sporting News NHL Goaltender of the Year.
Back in the first week of April, Thomas agreed to a four-year extension with Boston, good through the 2012-13 season—Well worth the price tag.

The Bruins signed him for a steal now in hindsight.
Good move and most deserving of the 3 awards given to B's.
