Boston Bruins defenseman, Matt Hunwick
The Boston Bruins have signed restricted free-agent defenseman, Matt Hunwick, to a multi-year contract earler today. WEEI.com writer Joe Haggerty reports that it is a two-year deal worth $2.9 million.
The 24-year-old puck-rushing defenseman was the Bruins seventh pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Hunwick played in 53 games in the 2008-09 season with 27 points, and a plus-15—including a nice fighting major on Jan. 10, 2009, against Carolina Hurricanes, Justin Williams.
The Warren, MI, native filed for salary arbitration a few weeks ago, Jul. 5., which was scheduled for this Friday, Jul. 24.
Hunwick is coming off an emergency splenectomy back on Apr. 18, which caused him to miss the entire playoffs series, but should be good-to-go for training camp in Sept.
